Guðmundur has been in several service teams over the years, started in 1997 with few breaks in between. Now in 2016 will be the first year he will be under the wheel and contest in Formula Off Road. Although he is a new competitor in Formula Offroad he has won the Icelandic Champion title three times in Go-Kart.
The Car:
The Lion is a new car from Selfoss, made by Gudmundur Ingi Arnarsson and Ólafur Leósson. The construction began in November 2014 and was tested for the very first time in November 2015 and again in April 2016. The Lion’s first race was at Hella 7. – 8. May 2016, and ended in third place in 1st round in the Icelandic Championship. The car is built with 9″ Ford Aluminum axles with 35 spline both pinon and axel. Rear axles are full floating, the build inner knuckle and front axle, (they used chrome molly steel in front axles). Four RCV ball joints so he can turn the car 65° (Most cars can only turn about 40°) The engine is LS7 GM 7,0L all aluminum 625 hp + 100 with nitro, transmisson is C-6 with, “Ljónsstaðar” transfercase (Lion Transfercase), hydraulic cylinder and power steering pump is homemade. Hydraulic brakes is in the car with hydraulic booster from a Mustang, master cylinder from Ranger, brake caliper in front from a Mustang and a Camaro brake caliper in rear, rotors are from Toyota LC 120 both in front and rear. The suspensions are ORI struts, four link in rear, they also built aluminum wheels with beadlock.
