Kubbur var smíðaður uppúr tilraunar bíl sem lið Kubbsins var með 2010-2011. Magnús keppti þá á bíl sem var smíðaður í Götubílaflokkinn og var Suzuki Jimny. Í hverri keppni sem Magnús keppti í, bæði hann og liðið punktuðu hjá sér hvað væri að virka og hvað mætti betrumbæta til að búa til ennþá betri bíl. Þegar punktarnir voru orðnir nægilega margir og hnitmiðaðir þeir byrjuðu á smíðunum á Kubb og myndi þeir taka þátt í Sérútbúna flokki.
